Discover Your Passions & Follow Your Bliss
“If you follow your bliss, you put yourself on a kind of track that has been there all the while, waiting for you, and the life that you ought to be living is the one you are living.” – Joseph Campbell.
It was less than two years since I opened my mind to spirituality. Before that, I thought I had no talents, gifts, creativity, or deep interests in anything specific. However, spiritual teachings taught me that we all have unique gifts to give to others- hidden in our deep interests and passions.
I don’t know about you, but I felt this truth deep in my heart, which impacted my mind and created the urge inside of me to discover my passions- so I started thinking and talking about it.
My friend advised me to create a list of things I love doing the most, and he also gave me an incredible book- “Atomic Habits” by James Clear, which helped me start asking myself, “What are situations when my energy rises? What is something about other people asking me for advice? What do I want to do every day and get better at it?”
But, if I wanted to answer all these questions honestly, I had to remove thoughts about my studies, skills, and knowledge I had. I had to focus on what I truly wanted, what I would love to do every day, and what would fulfill me the most.
But, I had to spend time in solitude to know the answers and to understand myself better. We all need time of seclusion and peace to stop and listen to our inner voice. Being in peace and solitude to think about what we truly want and enjoy is the only way to get to know ourselves better.
So, after I started thinking about the answers and answering the questions- I started getting some clarity about what I enjoy the most.
I began to observe when my energy goes high, and I slowly started making choices and creating habits that support that high-energy state. I started doing things I genuinely enjoy more frequently, such as reading spiritual & personal development books & writing, which made me discover I do have a deep interest in something, and that I am talented at writing.
Following my interests by reading & listening to content I am deeply interested in & developing a joyful habit of writing, I discovered a profound energizes that awakened my creativity in different areas of my life.
Today, whenever I spend my time doing what I love the most and get into the deep focus of flow, just like Joseph Campbell described in the quote above- it feels like me.
No human being is more special than you are. You are unique. You have your unique talents & gifts hidden in your passions, and with some effort, you can discover them & put yourself on the track that follows your bliss.
Stepping on “The Track of your bliss”
I divided the experience of discovering my passions & following my bliss into five “stages.”
“If you don’t know what your passion is, realize that one reason for your existence on earth is to find it.” – Oprah Winfrey
The first stage is faith. The only way to discover your gifts is first to believe you have them.
“Everyone has a purpose in life… a unique gift or special talent to give to others. And when we blend this unique talent with service to others, we experience the ecstasy and exultation of our own spirit, which is the ultimate goal of all goals.” – Deepak Chopra.
The second stage is establishing a clear intention to discover your passions. Decide to discover your passions. There is great power in intention.
“Our intention creates our reality.” – Wayne W. Dyer.
The third stage is to focus daily on discovering your passions. Faith and intention are essential, but there is no manifestation without action.
Start talking about it, ask people around you what you’re good at, and think about your childhood desires and hobbies. Use different tools- read books & blogs on that topic, watch YouTube videos, and listen to audiobooks, or invest in a coaching program. And don’t settle until you find what is that you deeply enjoy, or have an interest in.
Matthew 7:7: “Seek, and ye shall find.”
Once you know your passion(s), the fourth stage is to create habits that support your well-being and your passions. Prioritize your health and your passions and start doing more frequently what you enjoy the most.
“Every action you take is a vote for the type of person you wish to become.” – James Clear.
And finally, once our passions are part of our daily life, identity, and who we are, the fifth stage is finding a way to bring good to this world by doing what we love the most.
This stage is about discovering the way to start sharing our gifts & our message with others. It is about putting our minds to thinking about how we can contribute to the world by doing what we love the most.
This is the stage I am currently at. I love writing, and I have a deep interest & a profound spiritual understanding that helped me discover deeper fulfillment, joy & sense of purpose in “my” life, and this platform is one of my ways to share my gifts with others.
The Universe supports intentions from our hearts by sending the right people, opportunities, resources, creativity & inspiration our way.
Have trust in the Universe, God, or whatever you like to call it & support that faith with your everyday actions.
Out of my heart,
Ivana
